Crowdfunding is the new way to raise money for a personal cause on JustGiving.
We would like to raise funds to help pay for Alec's medical bills which are very costly in South Africa. Alec has a long road ahead of him as he was only diagnosed on the 27th December 2015, up until now he has had to undergo multiple surgeries and various scans. Alec has only just started his chemo treatment and unfortunately his medical aid will only cover a percentage of the hospital bills, scans, and Chemo treatment he has to have done to fight this awful disease.
Alec is a 12 year old energetic, intelligent, outdoorsy young boy. His diagnosis has come as a huge shock to his entire family, especially his 10 year old brother Dale who are inseparable and loved running around outside building forts and playing with their dogs. Alec's medical bills and his treatment cost's should be the last thing his family should have to worry about but is a very important factor. We feel that we can make a very big impact with fundraising here in the UK to help Alec.
All the money raised will be used to pay for outstanding medical bills that are not covered by Alec's medical aid. Unfortunately in South Africa they do not have the support of a N.H.S system, you pay a monthly fee for Medical Aid to help cover a percentage of the medical costs / hospitals if anything were to happen to you. Cancer treatment is very costly in South Africa and his medical aid will only pay a percentage of all his treatments he will need to fight his Non - Hodgkin's Lymphoma Cancer.
