Story
Hi I'm Neill and i run Bike Buddha.
I have been a keen cyclist since my teenage years, and am never happier than when i'm fixing or maintaining a bicycle. Over the years I have worked on all manner of wheeled constructions, from unicycles to tandems to hand powered bikes and even a giant tricycle for a production of Pinocchio. I also volunteer for a bicycle charity called Limited Edition Cycles and help to maintain their fleet of disability cycles, enthusiastically assisted by my four year old daughter.
Now about Bike Buddha. I have been a commuter in London for the last eight years, riding into the city from most directions. During my time on the road I would frequently see cyclists, pulled over, staring at their bike as the chain dangles limply from the cassette or the last gasps of air sigh from their tire. Some have the equipment and knowledge needed to fix their steed, for others though this situation can cause a real problem. I stop and offer a friendly hand, most times it is graciously excepted, and set about fixing their problem. I offer this service for free to help a fellow cyclist in trouble, and over the years have fixed punctures, brakes, shortened chains, removed derailleurs, reattached saddles and even trued a front wheel after a crash.
I buy my own tools and spare parts, particularly inner tubes, and ask nothing back from the stranded individual. If they offer money I point them to the just giving page and suggest a donation if they so feel inclined. I would like to raise £200 so I can buy a small kit of spares and use this both on the road and at the weekly Limited Edition Cycles disability sessions.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about me and my aims for Bike Buddha, and who knows, perhaps I'll see you on the road...
