Story

Help the Homeless offer a range of life-changing services in Leicester. It takes around £1000 to turn each homeless person's life around.

What would you NEED to turn your life around from scratch? HTH start with emergency short term accommodation. They then spend a few weeks getting to know their service users and supporting any complex needs. They get them to appointments, banks, the job centre, etc, and verify info such as talking to probation officers. Food, clothing, a bed, material aid, appliances, transport and a mobile phone for work can all be provided, and crucially a deposit on a rented home (which is usually around £400). Many landlords will not take tenants on benefits as housing benefits now take at least six weeks to come through, so HTH act as advocates for their service users amongst a network of trusted landlords.
