Story

As you may know, this week Ashton Town AFC sadly lost its longest serving, Billy Pomfrett.

Unfortunately it has been found that Billy cancelled his life insurance once his wife passed some 22 years ago and we have a huge shortfall for the funeral.

We totally understand that it is hard times for all, however if your in a position to do so, please let's help the family and see Billy off as we should.

Billy touched so many lives during a remarkable 63 year stint at a football club, so even if it is just the cost of a pint as if you are buying Billy a final drink, then please do so via this link.

Any surplus funds will go to his beloved football club.

Billy joined the club as a 17 year old centre half in 1957, and bar playing for Makerfield Mill whom changed their name to Ashton Town in 1962, he played for no one else. Amazingly some 63 years later he was still a key figure at the club, despite bad health taking over in the latter years.

63 years voluntary work. Let that sink in. Absolutely remarkable.

I will miss you Billy. We all will.

Thank you in advance for all those whom can give.

Mark
Club Chairman.
