Story

It's pretty cool when your form tutor provides PPE that supports you and your team in the NHS at a time like this.

With the global pandemic of Covid-19, supplies of personal protective equipment (PPE) for medical/care staff are running very low or are non-existent in certain locations.

We have designed a simple face shield which provides at least a basic level of protection for ‘front line’ medical staff. This design is available to anyone who can join in with this effort. However, if you would just like to see how it is made you can also do that via our Instructable: https://www.instructables.com/id/Medical-Face-Shield-1/

Many other schools and colleges nationally (and now internationally) are joining in, using this design.

You may have seen our team on the Steph Show on Tuesday 31 March and can view this here .

We have calculated the cost per face shield is approximately 70p. Whilst we do have stock of materials at the moment we are very soon going to need to order more in order to be able to continue meeting the strong demand from the NHS. (NB: Birchwood High School itself has donated over £1000 in materials already.)

If there are any funds left over from this appeal, we will donate the funds onto an NHS charity to support frontline staff impacted by the virus.

UPDATE: We have chosen the NHS COVID-19 wards at 'Herts & Essex Community Hospital' and 'The Princess Alexandra Hospital', to be used towards whatever they see as their highest priority.

Thank you in advance, any support you can give would be very much appreciated.
