Founded in October 2024 in Yorkshire, Birds & The Belles is a birdwatching group that’s made by women, for women. We recognise the unique challenges that female birders can face. That’s why we nurture a welcoming and supportive space where female birders can come together, online and at local events.
Birds & The Belles aims to enhance the experience, representation and safety of women in the birdwatching and nature-based activities.
Since the group started, our members have reported improved mental health, improved confidence, reduced isolation and increased knowledge and skills.
We currently have three ambassadors who run multiple in-person events each month in Lancashire, Yorkshire, Durham and Northumberland.
100% of funds raised will go directly to these initiatives, helping us to reach and support more women.
