Story

Aspire Supported Living launched only a few years ago, in Summer 2014, but since then we have gone from strength to strength. We now provide support and housing to over 300 vulnerable and disadvantaged citizens her in Birmingham and the surrounding area, on a daily basis.

The support we offer is all independence focused and directed towards independent living. This is particularly focused on supporting citizens from backgrounds including Homelessness, Mental Health, Addiction, Ex-Offender or Ex-Services, and in most cases a combination of them.

Although our dedicated Aspire Supported Living support team does quote literally loads of amazing work already, we feel even more can be done. It is with this in mind that we are looking to raise funds to launch the Waterways Engagement Initiative.

The Waterways Engagement Initiative will see us acquire a canal boat, equipment and staff, to be able to launch this ground breaking citizen engagement project. Overall the concept is to re-access some of the phenomenal and long lost value of the regions canal network. The life-skills focused programme will see small groups working intensively with the WEI team to develop personal, interpersonal and vocational skills, over a four week period. Their new found skills will then be put to the test during the expedition phase of their programme as they venture out over the 100+ miles of our Birmingham canal network.

Ultimately the whole aim of the Waterways Engagement Initiative, is to support as many of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged citizens in Birmingham and the wider region to progress from Reliance to Independence !
