I've raised £2390 to help fund the investments needed to get the school ready for reopening.

As I'm sure you all know, education and schooling has completely changed since the arrival of Covid-19 in all if our lives. As Chair of Governors at Bishop Childs CiW Primary School in St Mellons, Cardiff, my wonderfully talented and dedicated staff and governors have been planning for the reopening of the school within current social distancing restrictions and therefore with only a very limited capacity. Learning will carry on at home for some time, but we are delighted to be able to see the children again in small groups for 'check-in, catch-up & prepare' sessions.
In order to make this the safest possible environment, we have had to spend quite a bit of money that we don't have, whilst we also don't have money coming in from things like the summer fair. One transaction I saw was for £2,390 for only some of the kit we need to keep pupils and staff safe.
So...the only thing I know I can do to raise money to help, is to run. Run off my lockdown belly and run my socks off for school; it seems like a reasonable plan. I've made a start by running 2,390m and I aim to add a zero to that and do a run of 23,900m by the time summer holidays start, which is more than half a marathon and the longest distance I will have ever run.
Please donate only if you can afford to do so. The last thing I want is struggling families feeling like they should donate when affording basic living is a challenge.
Stay safe. Love you all. God bless.
Ollie
