I (Chantal) am again reaching out for some help with Sister Shack CIC, this time for our Black History Month event. In 2020 thanks to your support, we could have an online BLM market at no cost to the traders. This year we are doing a physical event, but bigger! Anti-Racist Educator Marsha Garrett has agreed to come and present a talk, and we will give 6 stallholders a space to trade at no cost. As with our pride event, we will have some activities, including colouring in area and badge-making from Lily Daniels.

As with most of our events, this is free to attend. Still, as we are not currently funded, we have covered these costs from any money we make from hosting previous events (we sometimes cover the costs out of our own pocket). We always strive to create a space where marginalised communities feel welcome. As with our pride event, funding would help alleviate some of the stress around how we will pay for the day (but we will be doing this event with or without funding.

We have secured an accessible local venue with gender-neutral facilities. Any money received will help us run the event, from providing stallholders with a free stall to paying for the speaker (who has generously waived her fee, aside from travel costs).
