    Story

Black Spot is an original series of educational resources created by Ben Heaney, promoting mental focus through an engaging method of learning.
“A unique and very enjoyable musical game/composition/brain trainer. Every home should have one!” - Master of the Queen’s Music

It is helping people of all ages, finding use as a gateway to reading, facilitating communication through musical activity in public & private education, learning support and specialist care. The feedback is extremely positive.

Ben was selected as SparkVale’s 2014 Best New Business Idea competition finalist, and with support from Abingdon Music Centre and funding from Oxfordshire District Council, Ben gave proof of concept classes at a care-home.
“The book is easy to understand, enjoyable and engaging” – Care-Home Activities Coordinator

The work was then incorporated into a new scheme of work and successfully delivered for the Oxfordshire Learning Network at two care-homes. Ben was then invited to present this work at their AGM. This work led to the Creative Dementia Arts Network offering Ben a place on their Arts practitioner in dementia care course.
“Just Brilliant” - Chief Executive, CDAN

Following a placement at a local Alzheimer's Society Day Centre, Ben presented for CDAN’s Annual conference at St Hugh’s College, Oxford and gave a series of workshops as featured Arts Practitioner. He was then invited to give demos for the Guideposts “Lights Up! Memory Club” meetings.

As well as providing activities to those with failing memory conditions, this work is also being used in Early Years development, school education and beyond. In May 2016, Ben was invited to give a demonstration of his work for PhD students at the Henley Business School as an effective team-building exercise. The possible uses of Black Spot are limited only by the imagination!

Please help Ben reach more people who need this work most by making a donation and sharing the news of this campaign.

    Many thanks!

Just been phone interviewed for a possible article in the Oxford Mail & Abingdon Herald! Fingers crossed, as that would help spread the word! Whilst I'd happily end the campaign now having raised an impressive £1440, I'm going to extend it again by 1 week in the hope that with a press article I might yet reach the target... I really couldn't be doing this without your kind financial support. It is going towards directly helping those who might benefit most from playing Balck Spot. I am very grateful. Thank you
