Story
This page is now closed for donations. Including our offline fund-raising, we have hit our target of £6,000, half of which will go directly to Yorkshire Air Ambulance and half will be retained by Wharfedale RUFC to buy YAA branded kit (match balls, training tops etc) for the 2019/20 season. For season 2019-20 Wharfedale RUFC will be playing exclusively with YAA rugby balls, helping to promote this great cause and to remind our members and spectators of the fantastic service that YAA provides.
We want to say "thank you" to Yorkshire Air Ambulance for their role in rescuing our former chairman of rugby, Michael Harrison, after a serious farming accident and for the invaluable support they provide to our rural community. In recent weeks they have also rescued one of our junior players, Jack Midgley, who was seriously injured in an U14 match.
It costs £6,000 to keep one YAA helicopter in the air for a day and we want to keep those blades spinning. Several members of Wharfedale RUFC led by chairman Robert Fort will be cycling 200 miles from Peterborough Lions RUFC to Wharfedale RUFC over 3 days 25-27 April to arrive in time for kick-off at the club's last game of the season against Peterborough. Please dig deep to help us help YAA.
The full team of riders is Matthew Bell, Robert Fort, Nick Gains, Alex Howarth, Alan Jackson, Tim Lockett and Dave Townson, with van support from Michael Townson.
