Story

Almost five weeks ago Fi's mum had a wee accident. She has been recovering from a nasty injury under the care of the physios, occupational therapists and carers at Highbank Intermediate Care Home. Thanks to their help, Jean will be discharged back to living independently in her own house very soon. Fi and I have visited Jean pretty much every day since she was admitted to Highbank, and have seen first hand just how incredible all the staff are.

Highbank is a precious resource for those elderly folks that don't need to be in hospital, but can't manage safely at home. It receives central funding to provide care and therapy for patients, but has to raise money for their residents welfare fund to cover the bingo, the musicians, the games, the garden - all those nice extras that keep residents entertained during the time they can't be at home.

With little training and a gammy leg, I'm going to take part in the Scottish 10k in a few weeks time and use it as an excuse to raise some money for the Highbank Residents Welfare Fund to thank them for looking after Jean. You never know when an older relative of yours will need that bit extra help. If they do, it is there.
