Story

Blakes been in hospital now almost 9months with ongoing issues with his feeding/nutrition. In December Blake was transferred to the Royal hospital were he remains for the foreseeable future. Unlike us Blake cannot eat or drink orally and relies on tubes to be fed. On Monday Blake had surgery number 4 in the last 5weeks to fit a broviac line so he can be fed TPN and a peg device, so he can have small feeds into his intestine. Blakes gut and bowel are not absorbing his nutrition properly.

Over the last 9months the McCaughey family have been separated and living their lives in a hospital ward.

Everyone knows the stress of being in hospital for a day or two let alone this long.

When Blake is fit to be discharged home he will need intensive physio to get him back on his feet he has lost the muscle strength in his legs, arms and core due to the ongoing nutritional problems. Blakes home will also need adapted to have a sterile room were he will go to have his TPN. This is a complex feeding system as its directly into the veins around the heart and has to be 100% sterile to stop infections so Blake will be fed by a machine into the veins for 12+ hrs a day into his broviac line.

As a close family friend of the McCaugheys we all want to do something to help at this time and appreciate everyones support.
