Story

Bliss Cavalier Rescue was set up by a team of experienced Cavalier owners that have been involved in rescue for a number of years. Every dog that comes into rescue recieves the same 'gold standard' of veterinary care that we would want for our own dogs.

Every penny donated is used to pay the rescues vet bills and insurance. Every Bliss team member gives their time voluntaririly- no one recieves a wage, fuel expenses etc.

Bliss Cavalier Rescue is a breed specific rescue, this means we and the rescue vets are experienced in the problems this breed faces. Common Cavalier health problems we see frequently with dogs rescued include Mitral Valve Disease, Chiari Malformation/Syringomyelia, Ear problems, Teeth decay, luxating knees and hip dysplasia. Cavaliers are one of the most expensive breeds to care for in terms of veterinary care due to genetic health conditions.

The rescue often take ex breeding dogs from puppy farms/commerical breeders that would otherwise be euthanased at the end of their breeding life. We believe these dogs are more than entitled to happiness after the years of neglect they have suffered.

We also take in owner surrendered dogs, some owners circumstances change and the safest way to rehome their dogs is via the rescue where we can ensure their medical needs are met prior to finding them the most suitable home possible.

Every potential adopter is thoroughly assessed prior to being home checked and every dog is assessed for behaviour prior to being made available for adoption.
