Weʼre raising £500 to help fund Rock Around The Blockade's solidarity brigade to Cuba in March/April 2019
Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
The true revolutionary is guided by great feelings of love. ― Ernesto 'Che' Guevara
The US blockade of Cuba has deprived the island nation of more than $930bn of development capital over almost six decades. 2019 will be the 60th year of the Cuban revolution and Rock Around The Blockade are raising funds for our solidarity brigade to Cuba in March and April.
With your help, we can take with us material aid in the form of musical instruments and sports equipment to ensure that young Cubans have access to sports and culture. We are also taking young socialists from Britain to learn about how Cuba has made extraordinary achievements in healthcare, education and inclusion despite being under blockade. We will be bringing our stories and lessons home to inspire more people in Britain to extend their solidarity to Cuba.
Cuba is always grateful for the solidarity of our friends in the world who are many and who, like you, inspired by this example, are slowly breaking the blockade every single day. — Julio Pujol Torres, the Counsellor for Political Affairs at the Cuban Embassy to the UK, at the 2019 Cuba Brigade launch
The more we raise, the more material aid we can take with us! On our last brigade in 2015 we were able to take with us ballet shoes, boxing gloves and more.
On our return we will host meetings, with brigadistas reporting back from their experiences, showing photos and film clips and taking the lessons we can learn from Cuban socialism to the streets of Britain. To host a meeting in your area, please contact us on 02078371688.
