Story

Blue for Jackson was set up as a charity to promote road safety for young children after of one of Santander’s employees Cheryl Yates lost her 17 month old son Jackson in a tragic car park accident.
In August 2017 on a family trip to Manchester, Jackson John Yates was knocked over and killed in a hotel car park only feet away from his family.

Since then Cheryl has researched similar accidents and found there is a lack of education about road safety especially for young children. Discovering a product called Parking Pal from the USA which is a colourful magnet which attaches to your car and helps to engage young children into staying in a safe zone. She decided to bring the idea over here and sell them online with a children’s book which teaches the dangers of car parks in a simple but engaging way, helping even very young to understand.

Profits from these have then been used to purchase road safety packs called Beep Beep days from the road safety charity Brake, which she donates to primary schools. To find out more of about the progress of the charity and how they help follow Blue for Jackson on Facebook, Instagram and twitter or www.BlueforJackson.com

Our hearts go out to Cheryl and her family and frankly we think what they are doing now is absolutely incredible and we want to help as much as we possibly can.

Me, Alan, Lisa and Melinda will be running with around 200 other runners in the Osmotherley Hardmoors half marathon. Slightly longer than the usual half marathon at 16.3 miles, the Hardmoors Series takes in the fantastic views of the Cleveland Way. The event starts and ends in Osmotherley Village Hall. Unlike a road race the event requires a mandatory kit list and runners are expected to navigate their way around the course which climbs to an estimated 3,000 feet along the Cleveland Way (That's the equivalent of climbing Roseberry Topping three times - whilst also running 16.3 miles).

Please support if you can,

Thank you,

Shane, Alan, Melinda & Lisa
