Story

***We are so pleased to have reached our initial target of £250 to cover the cost of venue hire! We have now upped our goal in order to hire a lighting technician, acquire costume and for marketing purposes***

WHO ARE WE?

We are Rebeka Dio and Aoife Beaumont Howell, co-artistic directors of a new production company, BLU Haul Productions. We created this company in 2018 to create and perform pieces of theatre which we feel passionately about. We are currently both training in the performing arts at highly esteemed drama schools in the UK and wanted to, while training, engage in working outside of our studies with friends and peers who are also actors in training.

WHAT WE'RE DOING

Since September of 2018, we have been rehearsing for a play which has been written and directed by Aoife Beaumont Howell and Rebeka Dio and is going to be performed at Camden Fringe in the summer of 2019 by actors Kira Brophy, Joelle Bruneau, Ellie Bryan, Janey Beet, Saoirse Coyle-Carroll, Chloe Elder and Eleanor Smith.

WHAT IS THE PLAY ABOUT

The show is an exploration of the feminine form and its meaning through a semi-devised, collaborative process between ensemble and creatives. The plot begins after the death of seven young women, who find themselves together in a space between Heaven and Hell, Darkness and Light and Joy and Suffering. A state of limbo – nothingness, which cannot be defined by the laws of Physics. These women are flawed by the acts they have committed and through a cleansing process in a surrealist environment, they revisit stories of their lives on Earth. Through sharing intimate episodes of their past, they form relationships, exploring the values of their lives and the difference between right and wrong.

The play explores the theme of womanhood, the dualism of good and evil and what happens when we inevitably must decide the fate of ourselves and the people we’re surrounded by.

WHAT WE'RE ASKING FOR

For our friends, family and anyone else who would like to help us to have a platform for our voices to be heard, to donate to help towards paying the costs of hiring the venue for Camden Fringe and cover the application fee cost.
