Story

Our son Bobby is one of a set of twins born at 30 weeks. At six days old and weighing less than 3lbs he suffered a massive infection which led to a brain injury called PVL. As a result of this, Bobby suffers from Cerebral Palsy Spastic Diplegia. He is currently unable to walk more than a few steps unaided and is reliant on a walker and wheelchair. He is also unable to complete simple daily personal routines.

We have recently been given the opportunity for a life changing operation called SDR (Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy), which ultimately may give Bobby the chance to walk independently and attend his first day at school with his twin brother in September.

The operation has a very long rehabilitation period of intensive physiotherapy over at least 2 years and although the operation and a small amount of physio is included, most of the essentials are not - including 2 of the recommended 3 hrs of physio a week. Also not included is specialist equipment (treadmills, vibration plate, and benches) or the funds to cover parental leave from work - essential to the extended rehab programme.

Without this equipment and physio input the surgery will not be as effective and won't give the results that Bobby deserves.

Bobby is a happy, cheeky and very determined 4 year old who would love nothing better than to WALK to school on his first day with his twin brother in September. Please help his dream come true.

Thank you very much for your help.
