We are a mother and daughter team, Ali and Lindzi, shaving our heads to raise £5,000 for Pain Relief Foundation researching new treatments for fibromyalgia and to support the Bus Different community project - gifting free books and mental health support around the UK.

The total raised will be split between these 2 causes.

We decided to shave our heads for a range of reasons between us but some of those include wanting to push ourselves out of our comfort zones and show support for those who lose their hair whether that be through treatment or due to medical conditions (alopecia runs in our family too.)

We both have people suffering with fibromyalgia close to us and recognise the devastating impact this has, not just on physical health but mental health too. We believe it's really important to develop better understanding and treatment for those affected, and hopefully one day a cure.

Bus Different is a platform founded by Lindzi (daughter) in 2022 (formerly, A Different Human Design) and it offers support and advice around mental health with a specific focus on neurodivergence and also gifts free books to communities. There is a podcast, there are events, resources and content all created to encourage acceptance, self-discovery and personal development.

This is a valued service which is almost entirely funded by Lindzi's work as a specialist teacher - last year the project cost her close to 10k and this year is forecast to be even more. So many gain so much from her continued work, and those within her team, it would be great to offer financial help too.
