Bolingey Barbarians 8 Man Charity Bike Ride
🚴 Support the Bolingey Barbarians 8 Man Charity Bike Ride
On Sunday 30th August 2026, we are back in the saddle for another brilliant Bolingey Barbarians fundraising challenge, and this year we have gone bigger, louder and slightly more ridiculous.
Following last year’s fantastic effort, when Sam and Josh Matavesi rode from The Bolingey Inn to Camborne Rugby Club in support of children’s charities, we are returning with the same spirit, a shorter route, and a few extra brave faces.
This year, Sam and Josh will be joined on an 8 man “bike” by a truly elite selection of riders, sponsors, characters and questionable athletes. The route is a little shorter this year and will run from the LWC Depot in Pool back to Camborne RFC.
Taking part this year:
Josh Matavesi
Sam Matavesi
David Jolly, LWC’s resident hunk
Gareth May, representing Jewson
Nick Rodda, from Rodda’s Creamery
Mark Etherington, representing Etherington’s Meat
And of course, Betty Stogs will be in attendance, complete with a professional driver, because some things are too important to leave to chance.
The ride will form part of the Annual Camborne Rugby Football Club and LWC Charity Day, hosted by the Bolingey Barbarians, starting from noon at Camborne RFC.
Why We Are Doing It
The Bolingey Barbarians were formed in 1993 with one clear mission: to raise money for children who need support across Cornwall.
Over the years, the Barbarians have raised an incredible amount for children’s charities and worthy causes, helping make a real difference to young lives and families who need it most.
This ride may be shorter than last year’s, but the purpose is just as big.
Every donation helps support children’s charities across Cornwall, and every pound raised goes towards continuing the brilliant work the Bolingey Barbarians have carried out for more than three decades.
What Is Happening On The Day
It is not just a bike ride. It is a full day of sport, music, family fun, food, drinks and fundraising.
🏉 Rugby
At 12:00 PM, the inaugural Camborne Women’s Rugby v Bolingey Barbarians Women’s Rugby match gets the day underway.
Then at 1:30 PM, the ever popular Camborne Vets v Bolingey Barbarians match takes centre stage.
🍺 Beer and Cider Festival
There will be over 50 different beers and ciders, plus Prosecco for those who prefer a little sparkle with their fundraising.
🎶 Live Entertainment
Live music throughout the afternoon on the LWC Stage, featuring:
Two for the Road
Makaton Choir
The Hitchhikers
Then from 7:30 PM, The Smoking Caterpillars will be playing in the clubhouse.
👨👩👧👦 Family Fun
There will be face painting, children’s inflatables, cream teas, the Callestick ice cream van, a gun and dog demonstration, charity stalls, raffle prizes and a charity auction.
And there will also be Zorb Balls, giving people the chance to run around like oversized hamsters in the name of charity. Dignity optional. Entertainment guaranteed.
Basically, something for everyone, from rugby lovers to cider samplers, music fans, cream tea professionals, children who need tiring out properly, and people who should really know better.
