Story

My 3rd challenge has now been set!

On Sunday 9th July I along with a group of friends will be walking the Yorkshire 3 Peaks! This is a 26 mile walk including the peaks of Penyghent, Ingleborough and Whernside. We aim to complete the challenge within 12 hours!

I am raising money to create a garden at the Churchill Unit, a separate unit within Bolton Hospital grounds which is where I and many, many others have our chemotherapy. Currently there is a green area, but it needs seating, flowers and a few other touches so that patients and families can enjoy it when they are at the unit and also the nurses, staff and volunteers can too!

Having spoken to the staff at the unit there are a number of other things that we will be able to help with funding, one being a pump machine so that a nurse doesnt have to manually syringe the chemo drugs into the patient - this machine makes it a much smoother and quicker process so it would be amazing if we coudl raise the funds for this too.

We will also start providing chemotherapy packs for patients to receive on their first sessions which include items to help with the side effects.

Background

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in February 2023 four days before my 40th birthday. It has since been a whirlwind of appointments with my army of consultants, nurses and specialists. In March I had a single mastectomy and lymph node removal and in April I started my chemotherapy which will continue for the next few months which will then be followed by radiotherapy.... phew!

I ALWAYS want to give something back, the support and care I have received from the team at the Bolton Breast Care service has been absolutely amazing since my first appointment. they are "simply the best". So there a number of things I will be raising money for to help and give something back to this wonderful team.

Challenges so far…

1) The first fundraising challenge was a Brave the Shave that I did along with my amazing friend Alice - who also had her head shaved too! The next challenge is now set and I have PLENTY more in the pipeline too!

2) On Friday 26th/Sat 27th May the amazing coaches and members from Gorilla Warfare along with me and some of my friends completed a 24hr non-stop bike relay and 15 marathons were completed on the rowing machines!!!!

As always with any fundraising, every single penny counts. I know times are so difficult for us all currently so I thoroughly appreciate every single penny that is donated.

I will update the JustGiving page as I along with family and friends do different fundraising events and hopefully keep a running total to give to the unit and every penny will go direct to them.

Please also give my blog a follow at www.titivateblog.co.uk

Thank you as always for your all your endless love and support.
