Story

Charlotte, Owen and I - the "Aquaholics" are taking part in this years "Bonecrusher" charity swim from Tortola to Jost Van Dyke in the BVI. The distance is 10km which is a marathon distance open water swim and we are swimming as a 3-man team.

Bonecrusher raises money to support urgent medical cases in the BVI, predominantly where it involves children and where they or their parents are struggling with the medical and other logistical costs.
This year, participants are raising money to assist K’Shonda Hinds, an 11 year old girl who was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma. K’Shonda has had a full leg amputation and continues with chemotherapy in the UK. The family has endured much in the last 10 months. Her father was injured during Irma and airlifted to Puerto Rico.

The Bonecrusher team have set a $20,000 target and the Aquaholics would love to be able to contribute to that by raising $2,000, or more, from our generous friends and families.

All of the donations will go towards the family as the event costs are covered by corporate sponsorship - all 3 firms that Charlotte, Owen and I work for in the BVI have sponsored this event.

Below is some information about where past sponsorship has been spent and if you want to know more about the event, see the link to the Facebook page below.

Thank you so much in advance, the Aquaholics! xxx

T’Shonda Dore was supported with her medical expenses for corrective surgery for scoliosis. Last year, after the tragic loss of Alston Hanley, Terrell Harrigan who, like T’Shonda, suffers from adolescent scoliosis was helped with medical expenses. We were also able to help Colin Williams cover the co-pay and expenses for a lifesaving surgery in Puerto Rico.

After the hurricanes of 2017 our donation criteria shifted to assist with some immediate needs in the BVI. $2000 was made available to Feed the Kids scheme in East End.
