Story

Our garden is in a bit of a sorry state of affairs

After the stopping of my Disability Living Allowance in November 2018 and the terminal illness and subsequent passing of my father to Plasma Cell Leukemia in March this year, I have had neither the time nor the money to do anything about it. The funeral was at the beginning of April, around the time most people worry about what they are going to do with their gardens for the summer ahead. Because of this, I am worryingly behind.

My father was a beekeeper and I have found a lot of benefit for my mental health in being able to have somewhere to “potter” and sit and enjoy the sun. My goals and ambitions are to create a pollinator haven in my garden by growing plants and flowers that attract bees. I am also stepping up to encourage bee conservatism and find ways to raise awareness through writing on our blog.

I myself have lifelong physical disabilities and have never been able to work. My Disability Living Allowance claim was stopped suddenly in November 2018 because of an inaccurate assessment from ATOS. We don’t get any support with our rent or tax and what money I am still in receipt of goes on bills so the last thing I have been unable to afford is to work on our garden. With your support, I will be able to achieve what I want to achieve and have somewhere that I can sit and remember my Dad.

I have set the bar quite low at just £200 because we also want to replace our BBQ and add a bench besides the pond. 100% of money received will be spent on improving our garden. Any donations received in excess of my target goal will be donated to Myeloma UK. I will also send you a personalised thankyou message with a link to our blog so that you can follow our progress (and read my other writes, if you want to!)

Thankyou for your support :)
