I am a secondary school science teacher, desperate to help a talented young individual that has just joined our school. Both he and his family are new to the country, having moved here from Italy. He has a passion for science, in particular chemistry. The problem is that we only have access to books written in English.

It will take time for him to learn the language and by then he will have fallen so far behind his peers he may lose interest in not just science but education overall. I don't believe this is right but am powerless to change the situation for good as I cannot bridge the language gap yet.

I am trying to raise £1000 to cover a flight to Italy, so that I can visit a bookshop in Rome and purchase the right textbooks for my student. Once I am there I will be able to recognise the right level of text, from the content in front of me. It's impossible to do this online and I have no one I can ask for recommendations that are suitable for my student.

All money raised will be used to pay for a better chance in life for this talented 15 year old. He is a keen footballer and I am hoping to secure a trial for him with Leicester City football club.
