We at Forest Gate Books Galore are fundraising to ensure all children have access to reading material, especially those who are hospitalised and going through difficult times with their health whether it is physical or mental, the gift of reading can really support them to uplift their thoughts.

There are many studies which identify many positive impacts of reading and the exposure to books. Imagine the smile on a young child's face when they receive a book with fresh pages, the smell and look of a brand new book. For children in hospitals who maybe unable to leave their beds or the hospital site, books and stories are particularly important – they comfort, distract, reassure and entertain, while also supporting disrupted learning. Stories act as a diversion from the fears of being in hospital.

The books need to be brand new to ensure there is no risk of infections spreading amongst vulnerable patients (Therefore we cannot accept any second hand books)

Please support us to spread knowledge and positivity to these children. Let these children feel like they matter, let us help them to boost their self esteem and allow them to relax and feel comforted. We aim to gift the books before Eid. The books will be sent with 'Helping Little Muslims' who are an organisation that have been supporting children, parents and staff at Great Ormond Street for the past 2 years.
