In the summer of 2018, I have the opportunity to travel with a charity called Camps International to Borneo, South East Asia, for 4 weeks to volunteer to help a variety of communities across the island in multiple ways. I will be doing things from digging foundations, laying bricks and installing bathroom facilities to planting trees and helping to monitor wildlife.

Throughout the 4 weeks I will be living in the same conditions as the locals and working to help improve their quality of life, however, in order to be able to do this I must first raise the funds to get there. The £5,000 I require will be spent on a number of things, 1/3 of it will be invested in local economies, communities, wildlife & environmental conservation, another 1/3 spent on programme planning and the expedition delivery costs and the other 1/3 will be used to pay for support costs and other infrastructure development.

This means a lot to me because living in a developed country disconnects us from our counterparts living in developing countries who are our equals, I was lucky enough to be able to born in the UK and so I would like to go and help reconnect with those who are not so fortunate and help improve their lives.
