Story
At the end of last year, I was given the opportunity to go on a World Challenge trip to Borneo. World Challenge has always been something that has interested me, plus the added fact that my mum undertook a similar expedition to Borneo exactly 20 years ago; I just couldn't say no!
As part of the experience, it is encouraged to raise the money for the trip myself, instead of using the bank of Mum and Dad! Whilst I can't take you to Borneo with me, I have built this simple website to take you on my fundraising journey instead.
During this trip I will participate in a 4 day trek through the lush rainforest which engulfs most of the island. I will also be volunteering at a Sun-bear sanctuary, which protects the world's smallest bear, threatened by poaching and habitat loss. Finally, I will visit the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, one of the few places across the globe which boasts the opportunity to see orangutans in their natural habitat.
The first fundraising challenge took advantage of the Qatar Football World cup and I organised a sweepstake. I sold an entry (a team) at £5 per team. It went so well I had to do 3 draws, as there were 96 entries! This was a massive boost for me and a great kickstart to my fundraising efforts. Very grateful to all those that took part!
For my second fundraising endeavour, for My World Challenge Borneo Trip, I have decided to up the anti: RED FEB! Every day in February I will run 5km, come rain or shine (or even snow). That's a whopping 140km. For someone who has a strong dislike to running and early mornings; I can't think of anything worse than waking up early to go on a run before school! So this will be a real test for me. Any support would be greatly appreciated!
