Story

Who we are?

We are Alfie (11), Riley (12) and Toby (15). We have lived with Brad and Shane for over 8 years and they became our legal guardians in 2019. Welcome to our page!

Our mission!

During the lock down in 2020 we took up hiking as a family as a way to get out and get fit. To date we have raised over £3,000 to support disadvantaged children in South Africa as part of the Re Ya Kgola (We Are Growing) charity. This year we have decided to do a sponsored hike to raise money to help 'Ma Lillian' once more.

Cleveland Way

This Summer we are going to hike the Cleveland Way which winds for over 175km around the North York Moors National Park from the ancient town of Helmsley to the seafront of Filey.

Re Ya Kgola (We Are Growing)

Ma Lillian started the Re Ya Kgola charity in 2003 from her own home and garage just outside Pretoria, South Africa. Today she provides support to approximately 320 single mothers and orphaned children. In addition to this, approximately 125 pensioners attend the centre three times a week for a hot meal, many being unable to either afford or cook for themselves.

The charity provides blankets, food parcels, sanitary items for schoolgirls and shelter to the neediest in their community as well as assisting in enrolling the children into schools, many of them without the basic paperwork required such as birth certificates.

The Money we raise from our sponsored hike will help to provide food and basic supplies so that Ma Lillian can continue supporting the most vulnerable.

Thank you for taking the time to read our story.
