This is a cause close to our hearts and so if you have enjoyed playing along with us during the lockdowns, here's your chance to show your gratitude! We are asking if you can give what you can to this important appeal - if you have had fun playing along then please do what you can for us, even if you have donated to this cause already. As you know the observatory was so tragically destroyed by fire but the rebuild appeal is going well and FIBO are closing in on their target amount. We want to help them!

The new building will have improved accommodation – more guest rooms and better fittings – for students, volunteers and young people to progress both educationally and career-wise.

The Observatory is vitally important to the economic and social wellbeing of Fair Isle, so contributions will be an investment in the future viability of the community as well as the provision of significantly enhanced research facilities for world-class ornithological and additional marine biological work.

The new Observatory will draw more deeply on (and help to develop) the building and maintenance skills of the islanders and support the creation of a Fair Isle-wide Tourist Action Plan, expanding the scope of eco-tourism in the north of Scotland.
