Story

I will be travelling to India in October and working with several charities focused on sex education, women's rights and LGBT rights. Help me raise money to support them!

Who they are:

www.tarshi.net - Educating New Delhi youth on sexual health issues and gender & sexual identity. They provide spaces for young people to meet as well as useful publications. Unlike the UK, sexual health education is not provided to every young person at school and sex between people of the same gender is still illegal. There is no protection against discrimination towards LGBT people.

www.jatansansthan.org - Providing education to young people in rural areas who otherwise wouldn't have the same opportunities as others. They also support women who have been victims of violence and support women in local government who are bringing positive change to human rights.

Jatan envisions a society where people lead a healthy, safe and empowered life, free from all forms of discrimination.

tibetanwomen.org - I will be living with a group of Tibetan refugee women and learning from them about their experiences. Some of their key aims are:

To raise global awareness of the critical situation inside Tibet, and to exert international pressure for the improvement of human rights for Tibetans living in occupied Tibet.

To promote the social, political, and economic equality of Tibetan women, in Tibet and in Tibetan exile communities.

To address the drastic human rights abuses committed against Tibetan women in Tibet – including rape, physical violence, and the denial of fundamental reproductive, religious, and political freedoms – and to address other cases of gender-based discrimination in the Tibetan exile communities.
