Story

The centre was opened over 20 years ago but was on the verge of closure over 4 years ago by Shropshire Council. Mandy Silvester and Maggie Allen took over the running of the centre as a charity and the centre has gone from only having 3 service users attending each week to 52 people attending over 5 days. This proves the need for the centre in our local community, as the number of elderly and vulnerable adults and dementia sufferers rises, the centre provides a safe haven and respite care for the sufferers and their families and carers. Louise is a carer and often works in the centre as well as out in the community. She was keen to spread her wings for a worthy cause. Charlie's mum has been coming to the centre for some time now regularly. Charlie said ''Mum loves it at the Bradbury and looks forward to her visits'' so when approached Charlie was more than happy to help out and jump out of the plane!! :)

The centre is also used by a wide range of local community groups, including the U3A, Whitchurch WI and also the NHS Physio department. We also have a hydrotherapy pool on site primarily used by the Water Babies. The centre offers professional care, a range of activities and entertainment, advice clinics, GP and District Nurse visits, chiropodist visits, meals including drop in lunches, hairdressing, laundry and bathing facilities. On a standard day we provide our day centre users with a 2-course cooked lunch and cold tea to take home with them, plus tea, coffee and refreshments throughout the day.

The money that is raised goes towards activities, days out and general running costs of the Day Centre. We will be doing our skydive on 4th July 2019.
