Funding needed for free poetry course in Bradford
The Bradford Poetry Foundation is an organisation set up to support aspiring poets. It offers a free 10 week course for anyone across West Yorkshire to join. It has run three times already and has had extremely positive feedback. Attendees of the course have published and performed their work, an opportunity they might never have had without taking part in the course.
We have a number of people waiting to take part in the next course. However, due to funding cuts, everything is on hold. We're desperately hoping to raise the funds to continue to give aspiring poets opportunities to develop their skills.
If you're passionate about the local arts community or seeing people develop their writing passions, please donate. We'd love to develop new writing talent in our community.
The creative writing course I took at the Bradford Poetry Foundation provided a wonderful opportunity to explore a whole variety of approaches to poetry. I learnt to write in different voices as well as styles, which made me so much more confident in my own work. Gaia and Ed were always so encouraging and supportive. It was thanks to them that I started editing my old scribbles and turning them into poems that I was proud to read aloud in public and submit to magazines. Thanks to that, I became part of the lovely Yorkshire poetry community and met so many inspirational people. My life would’ve been totally different if I hadn’t plucked up the courage to attend this course!
