I've raised £500 to To be split between funding the running of courses for vulnerable adults and young people at CARE cic and local fishing projects.

Towards the end of last year I decided I wanted either to take some time out traveling or to book an adventure of sorts, something to look forward to and a reason to get back into more regular training. Having had a scout around I booked flights and joined a group making an attempt to summit Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa. Its the tallest stand along mountain in the world at just under 20,000 ft. Maybe the worst (or best) late night impulse purchase I've ever made!!! Its a 10 day round trip of which up to 6 days will be spent climbing the mountain. The other 4 prob recovering in bed after!! The trip will be in September from the 7th - 17th. It will be the fist time I've been to altitudes that high so have no idea how my body will react and whether I'll be able to reach the summit, its the one thing you cant really train for. But physically I've been training for the last 6 months to give myself the best chance of reaching the top!
Its something i'm doing for myself, but as its got closer quite a few people have asked me about making a donation and was I doing it to raise money for a cause. Its not really something I'd considered up to yet but thought it was a good idea and therefore set this page up! I've already fully paid for the trip and all money will be going to the causes I'll mention below.
For the last 8 years since leaving university I've helped run C.A.R.E cic, a not for profit community interest company that supports mostly vulnerable young people and adults. Teaching them new skills, providing respite and helping get people back into employment among other things. If you would like to learn more please have a look at our page: CARE. Over the last few years in particular we have been working hard with local funding partners and the community to develop new facilities from which to run courses. Half of any money raised from this page will go towards funding transport, resources and animal food for which the funding often doesn't fully cover. It will allow more members of the community to access and benefit from the facilities. No money will be used to pay staff.
The other half of the money I would like to donate towards fishing projects that support young people into angling. Something I've always tried to support and it would be nice to give something back to a sport that's had such a big impact on my life growing up!
Anything would be bonus, I have no real target and whether its £5 or £500 raised then it would be great! Thanks in advance :-) Brad
