The Brandalism project has been invited by In Place Of War to travel to South Africa (October 2017) to collaborate, share and learn. I will be representing Brandalism to work alongside an amazing group of artists and activists to create empowering art and activism work in Soweto Township, Johannesburg.

For the past thirteen years, In Place of War has worked with creative communities in some of the most challenging context in the world. In Place of War is a support system for community artistic, creative and cultural organisations in places of conflict, revolution and areas suffering the consequences of conflict.

This trip is such an amazing opportunity to build, learn and expand my activism efforts, applying cultural activism tactics, trainings and skillshares to support TrackSide Creative - an incredible grass-roots initiative that supports hundreds of young people to engage in creative programmes in Soweto Township.

As part of my time I will be facilitating five arts activism workshops, collaborating on multimedia art projects and helping build a community creative space hub. Not to mention helping the local community give creative form to their struggles in the streets of Soweto!

I am looking to raise £600 towards the cost of flights to South Africa. Everything else is covered! Please help me make this incredible opportunity a reality.

Bill Posters co-founded the award winning Brandalism project in 2012.

Brandalism is an international street art collective that subverts advertising in urban space. We connect over 100 artists across the world to social movement organisers, campaigns and causes as we utilise the arts to raise awareness to social and environmental justices issues.

Our projects have been featured in the New York Times , Washington Post , Guardian , Creative Review and more as we create space for political art in streets across the world.
