Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered nonprofit.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
Bran is a 6 month old German Shepherd we adopted through the Blue Cross in December. He has only 3 legs due to a complete hind leg amputation. Below is the information we were given upon adoption:
"Bought at only four to six weeks old, Bran had been bred by a puppy farm. The pup was delivered to his previous owner at their workplace and the owner did not meet his mum or any of his brothers and sisters. Bran was sick and weak, and within hours he was at the vet’s with suspected parvovirus, a potentially deadly disease which is very dangerous for young puppies.
Thankfully, tests ruled out parvovirus. During the first few hours after being sold, Bran also passed a piece of cocktail stick; a sure sign the puppy had been kept in an unhealthy and dangerous environment. He’s lucky the sharp wooden shrapnel didn’t cause him internal damage.
Weeks later, Bran was back at the vet’s again, unable to stand on one of his legs. He had fallen down some stairs and was left whimpering in pain. Over the next couple of weeks his broken leg moved so much that it set with his foot twisted and facing the wrong way. He was covered in pressure sores and had complete muscle wastage.
When the vet saw the extent of his injury, they feared the young dog might have to be put to sleep due to the costs of surgery and ongoing care and so contacted Blue Cross and asked us to take him on. "
Bran was very healthy and happy after coming to us and he still is very happy. However he is now struggling with his hips and remaining hind leg meaning he now needs to have some scans and recieve treatment long term. The current fees are as follows:
£210 = consultation
£1500 = 1 x scan
We will not know how much more funding we need until after the results, this is just the start. We need to pay 50% on the day of attendance but our insurance will not pay out for up to 8 weeks and have said that if the results show it is linked to his missing leg then they will not pay out at all. We cannot afford a loan.
