    What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered nonprofit.

    Story

We are a team of students, professionals, activists, MPs, ministers and young people who fasted for one day in Ramadan (in the big Fastathon challenge), in solidarity with the people of Syria who are starving due to the sieges in Daraya, Moadamiyah and Madaya, and other areas by the Assad regime.

And now recently 500,000 people in Aleppo are under siege!

Since then our campaign just kicked off! We were on BBC talking about the campaign:

We got a number of politicians on board: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5cpfR5FOlrQ

And here are some of our volunteers!

The money raised will go towards sponsoring advocacy and community initiatives led by Rethink Rebuild Society - a Syrian advocacy and community organisation - to enable aid drops over the besieged areas and to make Syria safer.

It is disgusting that starvation is being used as a weapon of war in the twenty-first century while international leaders do not have a coordinated solution to fix this. The truth is that our leaders will not listen until we make them listen.

The way to ensure starving people receive aid is to break the sieges by enabling aid drops and preventing Assad and other parties from using starvation as a weapon of war.

One of the purposes of the Muslim month of Ramadan is for Muslims to feel compassion for those who are less fortunate than them. By taking part in the fast-a-thon, we wanted to experience the daily life of people under siege in Syria and to raise awareness of their plight.

The Fastathon was a fantastic experience, we really learnt a lot. You can hear some of us talking about our experiences here:
