Story
As you will know, Millbrook Park is a wonderfully diverse and vibrant community. With that comes a wide range of needs, personalities and ways of interacting. A significant number of our children find breaktimes and unstructured play very challenging – whether that’s sharing, negotiating games, managing big emotions, or simply knowing how to join in confidently.
Our staff work tirelessly to guide and support positive play, and we already run many enriched activities at break and lunch. But we want to do more. We want to provide more structured, engaging, purposeful activities, so that all children – including those who find social interactions hard – have a safe, supported, enjoyable experience outside.
However, as I’m sure you’re aware, current financial pressures in education are more stretched than ever, and purchasing the volume of equipment needed to make this vision a reality is simply out of our reach.
This is where I’m really hoping our wonderful community might be able to come together once again.
We would love to create a range of activity zones, indoors and outdoors, for children across the school. To do this, we are looking for donations of the following, either new or in good condition:
Basketballs
Tennis balls
Ping-pong bats and balls
Basketball nets – ideally substantial, outdoor-ready models (link included below)
LEGO – as much as possible!
Duplo – as much as possible!
K’Nex – as much as possible!
Toy cars
Toy dinosaurs
Giant chalks (lots!)
Throwing/target games like Velcro catch pads and balls
Outdoor covered sandpit
Bags of play sand
Very strong plastic storage boxes with lids for the above items
