Story

Darcey-jane who is currently the under 13’s Welsh Slopestyle (snowboarding) Champion 2018 secured this title within just a few months of starting her official freestyle snowboard training at her local ski and snowboarding centre in Cardiff, Like many young athletes Dj has a dream of becoming a professional female snowboarder. She trains endlessly in various, related disciplines including Trampboarding and Wakeboarding but craving for a more formal on snow experience after winning an event in Norfolk led us to a British run snowboard training camp based in Austria.
The camp provides a defined ‘Olympic Snowboarding Pathway’ development program for young athletes, there is no facility in Wales to support a full time young athlete.

On Dec 22nd 2018 she entered her first international competition (Zillertal Valley Ralley Tour Stop 1) and finished with a bronze position out of 12 entrants. She also attended a follow up competition (Zillertal Valley Ralley Tour Stop 2) and finished with a silver position out of 16 entrants, both results in the U14’s category. She has spent over 12 weeks training abroad since Easter 2018 as freestyle training on our local slope consists of just 2 hrs weekly. This falls far short of what a committed young athlete requires and lacks a clearly defined development program.
We are looking for financial support to help her attend the camp on a more full time basis.
The official report from the snowboarding camp reads…''Her attitude is incredible and the key to her achievements. Her answer is always 'YES' to trying something new. This is exactly how we need our athletes to behave and shows trust in the program''. says Steve Addicott from Whyaintyoujibbin.com.
TEAM GB has just announced 3 young (u18's) athletes from camp WAYJ have been selected for the Young Olympics Games in Sarajevo 2019
