Story
Darcey-jane who is currently the under 16’s Welsh Slopestyle (snowboarding) Champion 2018 secured this title within just a few months of starting her official freestyle snowboard training at her local ski and snowboarding centre in Cardiff, Like many young athletes Dj has a dream of becoming a professional female snowboarder. She trains endlessly in various, related disciplines including Trampboarding and Wakeboarding but craving for a more formal on snow experience after winning an event in Norfolk led us to a British run snowboard training academy based in Austria.
The academy provides a defined ‘Olympic Snowboarding Pathway’ development program for young athletes which includes a series of international competitions, unfortunately at present there is no facility in Wales to support a full time competing young athlete in this sport.
Completed International Competitions During 2018-19 season:-
On Dec 22nd 2018 she entered her first international competition, The Zillertal Valley Ralley Tour Stop 1 and finished with a bronze place out of 12 entrants.
Jan 20th 2019- Zillertal Valley Ralley Tour Stop 2 -silver position out of 16
Feb 23rd 2019 Q parks tour Penken Park - silver
March 3rd, Zillertal Valley Ralley Tour Stop 3- Silver
She has spent almost 20 weeks training abroad since Easter 2018. We are looking for financial support to help her attend the academy on a more full time basis during 2019/20.
The official report from the snowboarding camp reads…''Her attitude is incredible and the key to her achievements. Her answer is always 'YES' to trying something new. This is exactly how we need our athletes to behave and shows trust in the program''. says Steve Addicott from Whyaintyoujibbin.com.
Thank You for your generosity however large or small. It all helps..don't foget to follow and like 'Darcey-jane Williams' on her journey via instagram @dj_boarder_

Being unique in Wales has its draw backs, there is a lack of funding available and a clearly defined snowboarding Olympic training pathway does not yet exist. As a Steel working parent living in South Wales, fundraising is her only option to support her ongoing success.
