Story

Hi I'm after a little bit of help and support people to make a little boys dream come true. Those who know me know im not a runner or an athlete but I am going to run and complete the Great North Run this year to try and raise some money towards getting my daughters friend Jacob Scrimshaw an arm to make his life a little easier. Please take a minute to read below about Jacob's story

Jacob is 4 years old and was born 8 weeks premature and without his left arm. He started primary school in September so he has had to deal with a lot of new experiences and although he has a great network of friends he went to preschool with who know Jacob very well, he has met lots of new children who have never seen anyone like Jacob before and sometimes ask lots of questions. This is fine because children are inquisitive but sometimes it all gets a bit too much for him to deal with. The time has come where he has decided he wants to be like everyone else and have 2 arms! He is the most amazing fun loving boy who will have a go at anything! He amazes us everyday with the things he can do but he has started to become upset and sad about only having one arm. There are limited options for a prosthetic arm for him in the UK as he doesn't have an elbow joint, so we are going to have to go to USA. The arm he needs is quite complex as he needs to have an elbow joint and it will be body powered to give him movement. Jacob doesn't receive any form of disability funding therefore family and friends are fundraising in any way they can to try and help raise the £25,000 he needs to get to the USA for his first consultation and first arm.
