Story
I have set myself a challenge to run 1,500km during the 2019 calendar year - in simple terms that is running 30km a week for 50 weeks...sounds easy, but at my age, anything can happen - knees and ankles are not what they used to be!
“You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have” – Bob Marley.
These words perfectly describe my step-daughter’s last two years.
Turner Syndrome Support Society (TSSS) is a UK charity caring for the needs of those with TS. It is a small charity consisting of only a handful of employees helping over 800 members, so any funds are greatly appreciated. The Executive Officer Arlene has been amazing -she led us step by step through the numerous doctors’ appointments and the emotional rollercoaster our family was put on. Thanks to Arlene, I know that my step-daughter will be ok. Arlene is available day and night to all of us – the Turner girls and the families. She knows how we all feel as she is a mum to a Turner girl herself. She founded TSSS 31 years ago when her daughter was born with this condition.
Turner Syndrome is a chromosome abnormality affecting only females. The incidence of TS is approx. 1 in 2000 live female births.
