Story

Coming Together Whilst Staying Apart

I’m sure everyone associated with Widnes RUFC was both shocked and saddened to hear the terrible news about Brian Gill’s sudden passing. He received tremendous care at Whiston Hospital Intensive Care Unit and Brian's family would like donations in his memory to support the work of the ICU. They have been overwhelmed with how the community has pulled together, everyone has been so kind. As a result of the generosity of donations received to date, they have decided they would also like to support grass roots rugby within Widnes, specifically the Wids and Halton Hornets, both clubs that Brian was a part of. They think he would really like that.

Brian's obituary can be viewed on the Wids website: https://www.widnesrufc.com/news/brian-gill-obituary--a-life-of-work-and-play-2596238.html

At such a sad time, we would normally come together to provide support for each other and support for Bri’s family. Unfortunately, this is not possible at the present time. We can still show our support and solidarity from afar though by completing a ‘5k for Bri’ Challenge. This simply involves running/walking/cycling 5km. Then send a photograph (together with location) before/during/after your challenge to briangill5k@outlook.com . These photos will be collated as a record of this effort in memory of Brian.

Finally, if you feel able, please make a donation of £5, or any other sum, to support Whiston Hospital ICU and Widnes grass roots rugby. You will be asked to make a suggested additional donation of 15%. You can click the pull-down arrow on the right of the box and amend as you wish.

Thank you!
