Story
Who are we?
At Brides do Good we believe in creating a fairer, more sustainable world. For us, that means that every child deserves the right to a brighter future, no matter their gender, or where they are born.
More than 650 million women alive today were married before the age of 18, that's 12 million girls every single year. Child marriage happens across countries, cultures and regions and it violates girls’ rights to health, education and opportunity, as well as exposing them to violence throughout their lives, trapping them in a cycle of poverty.
In recent years gender inequality and child marriage has gained increasing prominence on international agendas. We have a unique opportunity to act now, and accelerate our efforts to change the lives of girls and women all over the world, for good.
What do we do?
Ending child marriage requires work across many areas and levels. Brides do Good raises money through the sale of our ethical and sustainable wedding dresses, as well as through charity events and fundraising. We work with our Impact Partners to identify the best solutions and invest our funds in projects that will create long-term, well-resourced and sustainable change.
What do we fund?
Empowering: Programmes that invest in girls, their participation and their well-being to promote sustainable change for future generations.
Community: Engaging with families, communities and young people to change attitudes and behaviours related to child marriage.
Services: Services across sectors such as education and health reinforce one another and are tailored to the specific needs of at-risk girls and women.
Advocacy: Advocating for a robust legal and policy framework for preventing child marriage and enforcing preventions.
