BRIDGET RUNS WALES!

I'm raising £3,000 to help those who suffer from Mesothelioma by running the length of Wales via all it's mountain ranges

The Greater Manchester, Cheshire and Cumbria & Lancashire mesothelioma support groups give vital support to those affected with this cancer. When my clients are first diagnosed, they have received the worst news possible. These charities are there for them, they help with information, guidance and a chance to see a future.

After doing some pretty crazy races, I was unsure how to test myself in a worthy way for this cause and then I saw a film of the first man to run the length of Wales, Conwy Castle to Cardiff Castle along the Dragon's Back ridgeline of all the mountain ranges in between and I was inspired. 230 miles / 380km continuous running in the mountains over 16,400 meters ascent. This time, there is no race, no comfort of overnight camps and water stations. I'll be on my own in the hills, navigating my own way, picking water up from streams and the only help I'll get is from my husband meeting me at road crossings (and there's not many!)

I'm aiming for 100 hours start to finish, but just finishing will be amazing and I will be the first to run it "solo, supported".

I will start sometime around 21st July depending on the weather. There's a bit of scrambling to be done around Snowdonia including the tricky Crib Goch ridgeline so I need a weather window for better safety. I'll keep this post updated with confirmation of the start date and time. I'll have a tracker to so you can watch my progress. (note that the tracker will be in my married name Bridget Glaister)

To do this in 100 hours I have to keep on running day and night with very little time to stop. I've only gone for 25 hours previously so it's a trip into the unknown for me. The training has ramped up in the last months with me spending weekends out on the course for hours on end and it seems always in bad weather!

I'll put some training pics in the updates below, keep scrolling down them. The stories are from all over; Scotland, England and of course Wales. Not many views from summits because there really has been so much bad weather up high!
