Story

Hi, in July this year, I am really lucky to be making a trip that will be a lifelong memory. I will be visiting Nepal with some pupils from my school and Hockey for Heroes. Our plan is to create a hockey legacy by teaching hockey skills to local children and to trek to over 5,200m where we will attempt a World record for the highest Game of Hockey played

This is a trip that requires not only my love of hockey but one in which I need to train and plan for the altitude ( to give you an idea, this about the height of the Everest Base Camp), which carries a lot of risk. For us pupils, the trip is designed to develop our personal skills and leadership as well as our finance skills as we personally raise the funds to be part of the group.

Those of you that know me well, understand that hockey is firmly part of my DNA and to get this opportunity is a life changer. I am so excited about having the chance to lead training sessions with local children and to try and pass on to them my love of the sport and to leave them with skills and the equipment to continue to play.

Our team will include Andy Halliday - GB Men's Team Manager and a team from Hockey for Heroes who will be mentoring us through the trip, which will involve trekking up to the height visiting local villages and schools on the way. Hockey equipment and our old school kit is being sent there for us to leave behind for children to continue to use.

When we reach the height required by Guinness World Records, we will be playing a full 70 minute hockey match ( there may be lots of subbing at that altitude ). This will be live streamed for everyone to see and for the record to be validated.

To raise funds for the trip I have been fundraising, doing a part time job for the first time and selling my possessions - hey - all I need in life is my tracksuit, some astros and a hockey stick!) I am now looking for some personal sponsorship to help me raise the rest.

This is no ordinary overseas trip for me it's a once in a lifetime. If you can help, I would be so grateful for your support. We will be posting (apparently using some very technical satellite technology) our journey so you can see how we get on
