Story

We are thrilled to announce that our very own Mrs. Fernandez is taking on the ultimate test of endurance: the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge this September!

On this grueling trek, she will tackle the summits of Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough—all within 12 hours. That is a total of 24 miles and over 5,000 feet of ascent. Mrs. Fernandez is lacing up her hiking boots for one reason: to raise vital funds for our Sensory Provision at Bridlington Nursery School.

Our Goal: Enhancing Wellbeing & Outcomes For All Children.

At Bridlington Nursery School, we believe every child deserves an environment where they feel safe, calm, and ready to learn. For many of our pupils, the world can sometimes feel overwhelming. A dedicated sensory room is not just a "luxury"—it is a fundamental tool that helps children regulate their emotions, develop motor skills, and engage with the world on their own terms.

What is a Sensory Room?

A sensory room is a specially designed space that combines a range of stimuli to help children develop their sensory processing. Here is how it will transform our pupils' experience:

Calm & Regulation: Using soft lighting, bubble tubes, and fiber optics to provide a soothing environment for children who feel over-stimulated or anxious.

Sensory Exploration: Tactile panels and textured surfaces allow children to explore different sensations in a controlled, safe way.

Interactive Learning: Interactive floor projections and sound-sensitive lights encourage movement, cause-and-effect recognition, and social interaction.

Inclusive Education: This space is essential for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), but it also benefits all pupils by providing a "reset" space to improve focus and wellbeing throughout the school day.

Every penny raised goes directly toward purchasing high-quality sensory equipment that will last for years to come. Whether it’s the cost of a weighted blanket or a contribution toward a bubble tube, your generosity makes a massive difference.
