Story
Hello,
My name is Andy and I will be embarking on a very big challenge: solo hiking 215 miles over six days with the aim of raising at least £2000 for Brierley Primary School.
As a parent of a pupil at this wonderful school, I have witnessed firsthand the challenges faced in funding school trips. With no government or council funding available, these experiences often rely heavily on contributions from parents and the dedicated efforts of the Friends of Brierley—a remarkable group of teaching staff and parents who tirelessly plan and organise fundraising events.
While their hard work has allowed for some class trips and activities, my goal is to ensure that every single pupil can enjoy a memorable school trip together.
My adventure begins on Sunday, July 13th in Portmeirion, Wales. Each day will see me hiking approximately 37 miles along the stunning Welsh coast, carrying all my own equipment to camp each night (apart from my last night in chester where I can look forward to enjoying a swim and a bed ahead of the final leg.
The final leg of my hike will cover 29 miles from Chester to Crewe, culminating at Brierley Primary School on Friday, July 18th at 1:15 PM—ideally coinciding with the end of the school year. This challenge will be just that, extremely challenging, especially during the summer weather but I believe in the power of community support to make this worthwhile.
All money raised will go to the school, as I have covered all costs for my equipment and camp fees etc
