Story
Hi, thanks for visiting my page!
The Brighton2Brussels Charity Cycle Ride 2018 is raising funds for the Mayor's Charities of Brighton and Hove. On Thursday 3rd May 2018 we will be setting off from the British Airways i360 and heading to Brussels to then begin our 4 day cycle back to Brighton via Aalst, Bruges and Lille to arrive back into Brighton on Sunday 6th May.
Following on from previous years, we are once again raising funds for local charities chosen by the current Mayor. This year’s charities include: Albion in the Community, The Clock Tower Sanctuary, The Martlets Hospice, RISE and the Sussex Heart Charity, and our team members have some very personal links with some of these charities.
Many of you will know that our daughter Josie died recently shortly before her 22nd birthday. She had been battling a cancer condition for many years but her death just after a routine operation at the Royal Marsden was a shock to everyone. Whilst being devastated by losing her, we had used some of the Martlets Outreach services in the last year. All these Charities are very worthy of your support, but we are very pleased to see the Martlets included.
The Brighton & Hove Property Consortium is a group of local property professionals with the common goal of creating an annual cycling event to raise funds for these very important charities. Each cyclist has committed to raising a minimum of £750 to take part in this event so that we reach our fundraising goal of £50,000, so we would really appreciate your help in assisting them reach their target and hence our overall goal.
Please sponsor them and help us to raise some vital money for these charities.
The event will be publicised by Juice 107.2 FM and The Latest TV Group as our media partners. A film crew from Latest TV will accompany the cyclists throughout the event documenting their progress and profiling the sponsors involved plus there will be daily live phone-ins with the team to Juice 107.2 FM.
Our previous years’ events have now raised a combined total in excess of £100,000 which has made a huge difference to the charities involved. Please help us keep this event going and support our committed team.

7 years agoI posted news as a comment by mistake so some will have spotted that I have broken my clavicle in a high speed crash in the Olympic Velodrome. I now know surgery is required and is due to be on Wednesday afternoon before the B2B train leaves on the Thursday so that's an end to any role there. Currently I am feeling bereft, but I have it in mind to do the same route in the late summer or early autumn, probably unsupported, so a bit more of a challenge than this version. Early days yet, but I shall do something at least equivalent instead.

7 years agoThanks to all of you who have contributed and got us to nearly £1,800. Just Giving are using this page as a test page and so their 5% fee is being waived - woo-hoo! So is it possible to top £2,000? Please feel encouraged still to support if you can. The total might have been reached but the causes are still good and still there and every pound still makes a difference to someone. You are all magnificent!

7 years agoThanks very much all who have supported to date. It is great to have exceeded the total . We are now very close to double the minimum sum and I would love to achieve that so that it represents both myself and Josie together on this ride.
