Story
28th June 2018, the day we found Olive.
Olives’ story: Around 5pm on Thursday 28th June 2018, exactly one week after Tyler and I tied the knot in Corfu Town, my Dad was walking down the road from our villa in Agios Stefanos past the bins when he heard a loud distinctive meowing coming from what he thought was the bin, having looked and had no luck, he continued on, leaving the desperate sounds of a kitten meowing, unfound. A few hours later at around 7:30pm, I got a call from Tyler telling me to come down the road and bring the cat food with me (yes, we had cat food in the villa as there are so many strays in Corfu to feed) When I got down there a few moments later, Tyler was their with both our mum’s and his Nan who were on their way to dinner for the evening when they came across the clearly frightened kitten who was still loudly meowing but was far too scared to come anywhere near us even with the cat food. We left her where we found her, behind the bins, with a small amount of cat food for her and went for dinner ourselves. 2 hours later, on our way back from dinner, we heard her meowing again, only this time the little kitten had climbed into the engine of a tractor for shelter for the night, we put some more food down for her but she was too little to be able to eat it, as I went up to the villa to get some water for her, I heard my mum calling me saying the kitten had followed them up the dirt track path to our villa. Olive, which we named her after the flowers for our wedding, spent the next 3 hours running around our porch area, drinking water, eating cat food and meowing at us, but not coming near us. As she accustomed herself to us, I called an animal centre in Corfu who suggest if I want to keep her and take her to the U.K, I should keep her safe in a bathroom for the night, before bringing her to the centre the next day. Which is exactly what I did. My dad set up a box with a t-shirt in as a bed for her, and 2 little saucers of water and food, and for the night I set up camp on the bathroom floor and slept with Olive next to me on the pillow, purring away and cuddling into me. There was no chance I wasn‘t keeping her at this point.
Next day, we take Olive in her box on an hour and a half car journey to the south of Corfu, to a crazy Dutch cat lady who told us the ins and outs (and expenses) of bringing a cat home to the U.K. This is where we need your help, this little kitten who we fell in love with, and being as little as she is, is costing us a huge amount of money, but she’s worth every penny!
As we don’t know how old she is yet, it can take anything from 2-3 months for her to be able to come home. She’s currently being looked after by a foster home in Corfu who are costing us 5 euros a day, this is to feed her, take her to the vet, love her and keep her safe until we can bring her home. At miminum this will be 280 euros if only for 8 weeks.
Her passport, vaccinations and microchip which she has to have to be able to fly, is a total of 75 euros.
Her flight to the U.K is £420 (literally how can something so small have a more expensive flight than a human?!)
Airport tax (whatever the hell that is!!) is 50 euros at Corfu airport. We think this is for the handling and care of the animal from the airport staff, but this is Greece we’re talking about so who knows!
Her kitty box for her to travel in is 35 euros.
This all adds up and I couldn’t imagine the thought of not bringing Olive home to us, which is why we need your help!
As we just got married less than 2 weeks ago on the island, we had the idea that instead of wedding presents, if our family and friends could donate to our page, you’d be giving us the best wedding present possible, by allowing us to bring our little kitten safely home to the U.K to be given the best possible life she can have and be loved for her entire life.
Anything you can donate to us will be absolutely amazing and us (and Olive) will forever be grateful! ❤️

Just a couple of love birds who recently got married in Corfu and want to bring our kitten home! We found her in a bin exactly a week after our wedding and just like us it was love at first sight 💛
