Carlos Santos is the founder of BristolResus4All and a dedicated bus driver in Bristol. Having previously served as a Special Police Constable in Bristol, Carlos witnessed firsthand the critical need for immediate emergency response skills in the community. Seeing a lack of public-access defibrillators and CPR knowledge, he took action by creating a community-driven initiative to make life-saving training accessible to everyone.
With a deep passion for saving lives and empowering communities, Carlos has worked tirelessly to install defibrillators, provide bleed kits, and ensure that bystanders have the knowledge and confidence to act in emergencies.
Recognizing the growing need for emergency response skills, Carlos established BristolResus4All to deliver hands-on CPR and defibrillator training to individuals, schools, and businesses. With a strong focus on inclusivity, he believes that anyone—regardless of background or experience—can become a lifesaver.
Carlos collaborates with several key organizations to expand the reach and impact of his work:
• Great Western Air Ambulance Heartstarters Program – Providing CPR and defibrillator training in schools and communities.
• Avon and Somerset Police Bleed Kit Partnership – Supplying bleed kits at key locations across Bristol for emergency use.
• Defibs4Bristol (founded by Simon Brookes) – Working together to install as many public-access defibrillators as possible, creating a robust citywide network.
BristolResus4All’s goal is to ensure that no one in Bristol is more than 3–5 minutes away from a publicly accessible defibrillator. Alongside fundraising efforts, Carlos and his team are committed to increasing public confidence in CPR and defibrillator use, ultimately making Bristol a safer place for everyone.
