I've raised £500 to split equally between these two charities: - Student Action for Refugees - Sussex Wildlife Trust

We will be running the Brighton Half Marathon in February 2019. We may both be major eco-freaks / animal lovers, but we want to do our bit for people as well as the planet. So, we will be splitting donations equally between these 2 amazing local charities:
Student Action For Refugees (STAR): A charity run by student activists that welcome refugees into the UK. The world is currently facing the largest refugee crisis since WW2, thousands of people have lost their lives fleeing their countries in the hopes of a safer life in Europe. This charity ensures that there are safe routes to the UK for refugees, funds search and rescue operations in the Meditteranean, and allows refugees to safely and legally rejoin family members in the UK. They also provide sanctuary to the large numbers of refugees arriving in Europe, as well as increasing the numbers of resettlement places. The students of STAR are campaigning to improve access to university for asylum seekers, promoting equal access to higher education. They also organise talks/films/exhibitons at univeristies to educate others on why people flee their countries, and how they can be welcomed into ours.
Sussex Wildlife Trust: A conservation charity that focus’ on protecting the very diverse natural life that is found across the towns, countryside and coasts of Sussex. They do this through research, education, colaboration with local people and policy makers, and through the creation of nature reserves. At a time where 60 per cent of our wildlife are in decline, and 1 in 10 are heading for UK extinction, all conservation efforts are critical.
